As the summer approaches, many people are starting to turn their thoughts to getting back to the outdoor activities they love, such as tennis. If hip or knee pain is hindering your plans and stopping you playing a game of tennis, then it's time to take action.  For many patients, getting back to sport not only brings increased physical health but also improves wellbeing and quality of life.

Tips for getting back into tennis after hip surgery

For most people who want to get back into tennis, they are able to return to the sport post-surgery. If you have not played tennis in a long time because of hip or knee problems, it is important to rehabilitate effectively. The most important thing to do is to follow the advice of your doctor and physio. They will be able to guide you to help you back to tennis. You may also want to think about taking lessons from a tennis coach. That way, they can help you with your shots and game strategy, as well as help manage your movement around the court. They may also recommend playing doubles to reduce the amount of stress on the new joint.
